Our editorial standards
Content updated (UTC)
Every legal summary should lead you back to an official source.
Sources before summaries
Our research starts with statutes, regulations, and government agency guidance. Each state guide identifies its sources and the date we checked them. When a source conflict or gap remains, we label it rather than infer a rule. An enacted amendment, an effective law, and a proposed bill are different things.
Dates that mean something
A source-review date records when the cited material was checked. A content-update date records a meaningful edit to this site. Neither is a law’s effective date or a promise of continuous monitoring. We do not advance dates just because a page was rebuilt.
Our update history records confirmed corrections, source checks, and tool changes, including what remains uncertain. The history starts with the documented October 14, 2026 changes; it does not reconstruct earlier activity.
Assisted research, accountable review
This public research preview was prepared with AI assistance. Human editorial review of the guides is still pending. A verification note is shown when current source details could not be fully reconciled. We do not claim attorney review or government endorsement, or that every jurisdiction is fully verified.
Consumer questions and practical guides
We use recurring questions from consumer discussions to identify problems worth explaining, not as evidence that a technical or legal claim is true. Our question guides are prepared with AI assistance and checked against relevant primary sources, such as manufacturer instructions, equipment documentation, and official agency material. Product-specific advice stays qualified to the cited product or source; a discussion, film label, or calculator estimate does not establish legal compliance. Each guide separates source-check dates from meaningful content updates and links to its supporting sources. These guides have not received independent human expert or attorney review, and no personal testing or professional certification is claimed.
Calculations and factory glass
The calculator estimates combined VLT by multiplying existing glass VLT by film VLT and dividing by 100. Actual measurement can differ. A numerical estimate does not establish compliance with vehicle-class, window-position, reflectance, color, labeling, or exemption rules.
Vehicle identification and glass specifications are separate evidence. A model catalogue does not establish the glass fitted to a particular car. A factory value must be verified for the relevant vehicle, year, trim and glass position before it can be offered. The current catalog has no such verified VLT values, so it provides identification only and never populates the calculator. Broad manufacturer bulletins remain separate general references. Use a verified specification or a meter reading of the actual window.
Corrections and review coverage
Found a broken source link, a possible change or an explanation that needs work? Use our contact form and include the page address. An official source is helpful if you have one. We record completed checks and unresolved questions in the guides and update history. A message does not guarantee a reply, an immediate correction or a vehicle-specific legal answer.
